The first sunrays in the moss at Fögrufossar (Lekafossar, Hraun The canyon Sigöldugil used to be filled by the river Tungnaá. Most of the water from the lake Krókslón is now forced into conducts to the power plant. But the canyon is still there for our pleasure and the overflow of Krókslón lake. I have heard three names on thease waterfalls, Fögrufossar, Hrauneyjafossar and Lekafossar. Which one is right I‘m not shure of. Perhaps they are all right

Lakagígar is the correct name, as Laki mountain itself did not erupt, as fissures opened up on each side of it. Lakagígar is part of a volcanic system centered on the Grímsvötn volcano and including the Þórðarhyrna volcano. It lies between the glaciers of Mýrdalsjökull and Vatnajökull, in an area of fissures that run in a southwest to northeast direction.
